Planning Your  Trip
There is a lot to do in the Ketchikan area.  If you're not fishing you may want to do some sea kayaking,
go flight seeing, visit some of the totem parks, or just go shopping.  Ketchikan has all of these activities
among many others.  The first thing you will need to do, however, is figure out how you are going to
get here.  There are no roads to Ketchikan so if you are planning on driving you will need to take a
ferry.

You can get on the Alaska Marine Highway Ferry in Bellingham, Washington or Prince Rupert, British
Columbia.  Another way to get to Ketchikan is on a Cruise.  Cruises are nice but they are usually just in
town for the day.  Most of the major cruise lines pass through Ketchikan and can be accessed on our
links page.
If you want to get to Ketchikan quickly, Alaska Airlines flies to Ketchikan several times a day.  The flight
takes off out of Seattle and lasts about an hour and a half.  Alaska Airlines is the only major Airline to
travel to Ketchikan.  (Pictured below is Alaska Airlines new Salmon 30 Salmon)
After you decide how your are going to get to Ketchikan you will need to plan on where to stay.
While there are several motels including Super 8 and Best Western in town, we highly recommend
that you take advantage of the bed and breakfasts in Ketchikan.  Many of them are very beautiful
and provide excellent service.  Contact
Alaska Travelers and their helpful staff will set you up in a very
nice bed and breakfast.
